Frequently Asked
Questions
Skin Rejuvenation (SR) FAQs
How exactly does it work?
Skin Rejuvenation is a combination of bi-polar radio-frequency
and light energy, that precisely targets pigmented lesions such as
freckles, sun spots, and age spots. At a different
parameter, the treatment will affect vascular lesions such as
spider veins and redness (including rosacea).
Back to
Rejuvenation
How do I know if I am a good candidate for
skin rejuvenation?
Skin Rejuvenation can be used on most skin types. The
exception would be very dark to black skin, where it is difficult
to see the lesions requiring treatment.
Back to
Rejuvenation
How long will it take to see results?
Results are gradual and cumulative, and can typically be
achieved in 5-6 sessions. It may take slightly less or more,
dependant upon your skin, and the severity of the lesions being
treated.
Back to Rejuvenation
Will there be any downtime?
Immediately following a Skin Rejuvenation treatment, the area
treated may darken before disappearing. This may cause some
social discomfort, but that is all. You can resume normal
activities immediately following treatment, including the
application of cosmetics.
Back to Rejuvenation
Are there any side effects with SR?
Although side effects are extremely rare, they may include redness
and/or swelling. There may also be crusting or minor
blistering, which is temporary. In extreme cases, change in
skin pigmentation or even scarring can occur. For this
reason, a skin test is performed for every client.
Back to Rejuvenation
Does a Skin Rejuvenation treatment hurt?
There is a minor amount of discomfort during a skin
rejuvenation treatment, but most patients report that it lessens
after the first time. During treatment, cooling of the
skin's surface is achieved with the use of additional fans and
cooling gels, and you may also choose to use a topical anesthetic
as well.
Back to Rejuvenation
Who should not do this treatment?
Pregnant women or nursing mothers, people with current or
history of skin cancer, people with impaired immune systems or
epilepsy, people with tattoos or permanent make-up in the
treatment area, and people with excessive suntans. For a
complete list of contraindications, please contact Tonic Body Spa.

treatments, and whether or not they are combined with other
protocols. Click here to view

Microdermabrasion FAQs
How exactly does Libra™ microdermabrasion
work?
Microdermabrasion is best described as a sort of exfoliation.
Tiny crystals are swept across the skin at high velocity, abrading
the topmost layer of skin so that it is literally 'polished' and

treatment tip so that neither the technician or patient are
exposed to used materials. The treatment is usually carried
out as a series of six sessions, spaced a week apart, but it can
also be used prior to any of our other skin treatments.

Questions
LipoLaser
FAQs
How exactly does LipoLaser work?
Lipolaser contains laser diodes that penetrate the skin and cause
lipoloysis (emptying of fat cells) into the surrounding tissues.
The fat that is released is then converted to free fatty acids
(FFA), glycerol, and water. The FFAs are used by the body as
energy or reabsorbed by other cells, the water is excreted, and
the glycerol is processed through lymphatic drainage.

Frequently Asked
Questions
Laser Hair
Removal
FAQs
How exactly does it work?
Syneron's laser hair removal is a combination of bi-polar
radio-frequency and light energy, that precisely targets the
melanin in hair follicles. As a result of this energy, the
follicle is permanently destroyed, and the body sheds the
destroyed hair much like dead skin. It is important to
understand that laser hair removal only works on hair in the
'anagen', or active growing stage. This is why multiple
treatments are required.
Back to Laser Hair Removal
How do I know if I am a good candidate for
laser hair removal?
Although the ideal candidate is a person with pale skin and
dark hair, Syneron's laser hair removal can be used on most
skin types. The exception would be very dark to black skin,
as there is a lot of melanin in this skin. Additionally, it should
be noted that very light hair can also be difficult to treat, and
Syneron's elos™ laser is one of the few that has been successful
doing so.
Back to Laser Hair Removal
How long will it take to see results?
Hair growth will be diminished after each treatment, and full
results can typically be achieved in 5-8 sessions. It may
take slightly less or more, dependant upon your skin and hair
type. Lighter hair generally takes the longest.
Back to Laser Hair Removal
Will there be any downtime?
Immediately following a laser hair removal treatment, the area
treated may be slightly red, or tender, but that is all. You
can resume normal activities immediately following treatment, but
should avoid any sun exposure for at least 3 days.
Back to Laser Hair Removal
Are there any side effects with laser hair
removal?
Although side effects are extremely rare, they may include redness
and/or swelling. There may also be crusting or minor
blistering, which is temporary. In extreme cases, change in
skin pigmentation or even scarring can occur. For this
reason, a skin test is performed for every client.
Back to Laser Hair Removal
Does a laser hair removal treatment hurt?
There is a minor amount of discomfort during a laser hair
removal treatment, most clients liken it to tiny pinpricks, or
rubber band snaps. To maximize comfort during treatment,
cooling of the skin's surface is achieved with the use of
additional fans and cooling gels, and you may also choose to use a
